Below you will find how we care for our Sphynx. Our Sphynx care plan is ever evolving as we find new products and methods of care. Each cat is unique and this should only be used as a guideline. Each cattery and Sphynx owner has different ways of caring for their fur-less babies, this is what we have found to work best for us.

Food

Starting at 5 weeks we begin to feed our kittens Purina Pro Plan® Focus Kitten . For two weeks we slowly transition from wet food to dry. The dry food we feed our kittens is Purina Pro Plan® Focus Kitten Chicken & Rice Formula .
We feed our adult Sphynxs Purina Pro Plan® Focus Adult Sensitive Skin & Stomach canned and dry, but mostly dry. We feed our kittens 4-6 times a day. We do not recommend having access to food all day as it could lead to obesity. We only give our Sphynxs filtered water, no tap.

Treats

We feed treats sparingly. When we do we give them Temptations™ Classic chicken flavored and Sheba Meaty Tender Sticks With Chicken.

Litter

We currently use ARM & HAMMER™ Slide™ Easy Clean-Up Clumping Litter, Multi-Cat for our adult Sphynxs. For our kittens we use Okocat Featherweight Naturally Lightweight Clumping Wood Cat Litter

Bathing & Grooming

We recommend weekly wipe downs using a fragrance free hypoallergenic baby wipes. We use Huggies Natural Care® Wipes. We bathe our Sphynxs 1-3 times a week. This varies by color and individual Sphynx. We have found that Dawn Ultra works best for us. When bathing we use a terry cloth or a soft exfoliating glove on the back and legs only. To clean their ears we simply use a Q-tip with alcohol. Do not use water as this will not evaporate. Also do not enter the canal as you can rupture the ear drum. When trimming their nails we use a wipe to clean between the digits and clean the nails. Then we use a regular pair of nail clippers to trim the nails. Be sure not to cut too close to the quick.
